I know, I know, stalker romances–they’re dark, they’re twisted, they’re icky, but they also might turn you on. If that’s the case and you’re looking for your next best under-the-cover midnight read, you’re in luck.
These are the BEST stalker romance novels out there, and I’d highly recommend you add one or two (or all of them) to your cart.

1. Lights Out by Navessa Allen
To date, Lights Out is my FAVORITE stalker romance. It’s a great laugh-out-loud read that I thoroughly enjoyed… but you do need to consider the trigger warnings before you start reading!
ER nurse Ali’s life takes an unexpected twist when a masked stalker with a morally gray compass enters her world. This kink-friendly, fast-paced dark comedy blends spice, suspense, and surprisingly relatable moments, making you wonder if such thrilling encounters could happen in real life.
2. Pretty Monster by Sheridan Anne
Pretty Monster is my runner-up for best stalker romance novel. Again, it’s a dark romantic comedy read – not quite as funny, but still a REALLY great read!
Kyah’s nights take a thrilling turn when she discovers a mysterious figure watching her through her living room window. As her enigmatic stalker grows bolder, sneaking into her bedroom, Kyah finds herself dangerously captivated. Is it fear or forbidden desire that keeps her from locking the window?
3. Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton
I’m putting Haunting Adeline first on the list because it’s one of the most recommended obsessive stalker romance books out there. To be clear: I don’t think it’s the best, but A LOT of people enjoyed it and I think that has merit.
Haunting Adeline is a classic stalker romance. There is a dude legitimately stalking a woman he doesn’t know because he saw her once at a book signing. I’m personally so-so about the FMC, though despite the fact that he’s unhinged I do like the MC.
I will say, this book is wildly overhyped. The writing didn’t feel as polished as I’d like and I ended up giving it a 3 out of 5 in my review because I liked it, but I didn’t think it held up to what I was expecting and that sucks.
The first book in this duet IS a dark stalker romance, the second is not. You’ll 100% want to read the trigger warnings before you read this, and while a lot of people call parts of their earlier “romance” (if you will) consensual non-consent, I firmly disagree so take that as you will.
4. Little Stranger by Leigh Rivers
Little Stranger is a forbidden romance that turns into a stalker romance. This is a frequently recommended book that, while I enjoyed it, I thought was a bit overhyped.
A lot of the story felt rushed and unexplained, and as a reader I found it hard to read between the lines to suss out the characters and their world. I also didn’t find either of the main characters to be particularly relatable. The book was also quite short, it took me about 3 hours to finish it, making the $15 price tag seem a bit steep.
I know it sounds like I just said the book was terrible, it wasn’t–I enjoyed it.
A follow-up to Little Stranger, Little Liar, was just released this past fall. I have not personally read it.
5. Crossed by Emily Mcintire
Imagine The Hunchback of Notre Dame but make it dark, sexy, and oh-so-morally-bankrupt.
Enter Cade, a priest with a secret hobby—serial killing. When he meets the heroine, she doesn’t just make him question his faith, she makes him downright obsessed.
Between his inner turmoil, her defiance, and the whole “thou shalt not stalk” situation, this forbidden romance is sinfully addictive. Who needs salvation when you’ve got this much spice?

Supernatural stalker? Check.

In this hauntingly steamy romance, the heroine finds herself pursued by a stalker who’s not just human—he’s from the “beyond.”

7. God of Malice by Rina Kent
Welcome to dark academia where the classes are optional, but the obsession is mandatory.
