19 Plus Size Romance Novels That Prove Love Comes in All Sizes
I love a good love story, but books are like TV showsโfilled with fit girls who always end up getting the guy.
Where are the bigger bodies?
Luckily, I’ve managed to find them!
These 19 plus size romance novels feature big beautiful characters who are the subject of the romance, and not the weirdo best friend.
If you’re looking to add something to your summer reading list, I’d recommend checking out one of these!

Best plus size romance novels

1. Editor’s Pick: Latte Darling by SJ Tilly
I adore SJ Tilly and basically everything she writes and Latte Darling is no exception.
This is NOT my favorite of her books, but it’s the best spicy entry level. It brings the spice and the romance, but it’s not too over the top for someone looking for a plain ole’ romance.
This IS a spicy book, so it’s for adults. And, in what might be my favorite feature (besides the age gap), the main character is like 30.

2. Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner
Good in Bed is a great read, so much that I discussed it with my friend, Jennifer, on her podcast Fat Girl Book Club.
All things are coming up Connie, until she becomes the subject of a former boyfriend’s byline in a national women’s magazine called “Loving a Larger Woman.”
I thoroughly enjoyed this fun, romantic read. Though, I will say there were a few things about the ending I didn’t love.
That said, I would highly recommend dropping this book onto your summer reading list.

3. Rein Me In by Kayla Grosse
If you like your romances cowboy heavy and you want your FMC to to be larger than an 8, then Rein Me In is for you.
This is a spicy small-town, late brother’s best friend romance featuring an FMC that looks like me (and probably you if you’re reading this) and honestly, I love this for us.
I believe this is book one in an interconnected duo, and it’s a great way to get your cowboy fix. BUT… there are tigger warnings, so if you have some I’d check those bad boys out before you flip to page one.

4. One to Watch by Kate Stayman-London
I whole-heartedly admit that while I haven’t read One to Watch it’s next-up on my list, so why not yours?
Bea is a “devastatingly stylish plus size fashion blogger” (sound like anyone you know? JK!) who takes the starring role in a Bachelorette-style TV show.
It’s described as being funny and clever, though I have heard some mixed reviews that say it focuses a little too much on her bring plus sized. But, to be fair, a real situation would do the same, no?

5. Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert
Get a Life, Chloe Brown follows chronically-ill, computer geek, Chloe (go figure).
After she kind-of, sort-of, almost dies, she pens a bucket list that includes the desire to “do something bad.” Which, it turns out, she’s not so great at on her own.
So, she teams up with hottie, Red, for a sexy, clever, and fun adventure.
Word of warning, this book has been described as being “kink.” It’s not full-on 50 Shades or anything, but it might get the blood pumping.
Need more by Talia Hibbert? Act Your Age, Eve Brown and Take a Hint, Dani Brown are also from The Brown Sister series.

6. Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy
You might recognize Dumplin’ as the film starring Jennifer Aniston and Danielle Macdonald. But before there was the movie, there was the book!
It follows the story of Willowdeen, a plus size teenager with a former beauty queen mother who decides to compete in a pageant of her own.
It’s a cute tale of bravery, building confidence, and falling in loveโjust a few things we could all probably use a bit of. This is also a YA novel, so there won’t be any open door spice in it, if that’s not your thing.
If you LOVE Dumplin’, check out the second and third books in the series, Puddin’ and Pumpkin‘.

7. The Rules of Arrangement by Anisha Bhaita
Zoya is not exactly the perfect Indian girl, she’s “overweight, spunky and dark-skinned” and, at 26, she’s reaching her expiration date (for a suitable arranged marriage, not generally speaking!).
But just as her auntie hones in on a hunk of an eligible bachelor, she gets a job offer in New York City. What’s a girl to do?
This is a cute, quirky book that will pull on your heartstrings and make you laugh.

8. Big Summer by Jennifer Weiner
Jennifer Weiner is a fairly prolific writer of plus size romance novels, and second on this list is her Big Summer title.
Years after a friendship-ending fight with her BBF, Daphne is shockingly invited to serve as maid of honor.
Daphne has changed a ton since the devastating end of their friendship, and she’s not sure it’s worth letting Drue back in… but the invite does come with a weekend away at a Cape Cod mansion (and cute, single dudes!).
While this is absolutely a romance, it does put a pointed spotlight on the complexities of friendship.
Described as the “beach read to end all beach reads” you’ll want to make sure you throw this bad boy right in that beach bag before you head out to soak up the sun!

9. The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory
Described as an adorable, charming book, The Wedding Date begins with a chance meet-cute in an elevator and ends with a wedding date.
When Drew asks Alexa to be his plus-one at the wedding of a former flame, she opts to go despite their lack of history.
The unexpected pair end up having WAY more fun then they expected, but they’re forced to go back to their regular ole lives after a short, whirlwind date.
If you love this one, there are 6 other books in the series, including The Proposal and The Wedding Party.

10. Brazen and the Beast by Sarah Maclean
Brazen and the Beast is part of Sarah MacLean’s Bareknuckle Bastards series.
If you’re a fan of Netflix’s Bridgeton series, you’ll devour this fun and sexy read.
It follows the story of three hot dudes in the carriage-riding era, and the women they simply can’t get enough of.
Readers say they can’t put the novel down. So, if you’re looking for a juicy read, you’ll want to add this bad boy to your list.

11. Curvy Girls Can’t Date Princes by Kelsie Stelting
I fully admit that I’m a sucker for princess (and royalty in general) novels.
It’s a combination of overall sexiness, and the whole want-what-you-can’t-have scenario.
If you’re itching to spend your weekend falling in love with a prince, it’s time to join our favorite exchange student, while she tries to get a prince to fall in love with her!

12. Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli
Leah on the Offbeat is the sequel to Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, the basis for the movie Love, Simon.
So, it stands to reason if those are in your ballpark, this is something you want to take a peek at.
It follows Leah, an “anomaly” among her friends, who’s feeling a little out of place.
Her world is then jumbled when her friend group starts to fracture. What’s a girl going to do?
This is a great coming out book, and an easy read!

13. White Whiskey Bargain by Jodie Slaughter
Hannah’s suddenly tasked with keeping her family’s moonshine business up and running after the unexpected death of her mothers.
But while getting into a new business is hard enough, it’s even harder when competitive new players enter the market.
This plus size romance novel has a fat heroine and rival moonshiners, need I say more?

14. From Blood and Ash by Jennifer Armentrout
If dystopian fantasy is more up your alley, then From Blood and Ash is the book for you.
It’s a captivating, action-packed read with a real sexy element to it!
Readers particularly enjoy this book because while it doesn’t include a plus size heroine, it’s not the center of the book.

15. 40-Love by Olivia Date
It’s time for Tess to take a break from her every-day life and head on a vacation.
While she’s there, she decides to get one-on-one tennis lessons, and ends up with a tad bit more!
40-Love is a unique title on this list because it features a romance between an older woman (40) and a young hot-shot tennis pro (26).’
They have a short, whirlwind summer romance, but will it last or was it just a quick fling?

16. The Love Con by Seressia Glass
The Love Con is an often-recommended title, having made it on both Popsugar and Bustle and Bookish’s lists of best romances.
Kenya is a lover of cosplay, gaming and anime, and is determined to make a career out of it… somehow.
The perfect opportunity seems to land in her lap when she ends up on the reality show competition Cosplay or No Way.
The catch? She needs a significant other.
She ropes her best friend Cameron into being her fake boyfriend. But will their con really work?

17. All the Feels by Olivia Dade
Described as another “utterly charming romantic comedy,” All the Feels pairs us with Lauren who’s tasked with minding Hollywood hottie, Alexander.
But problems arise when Lauren starts to fall of our leading man.
Then BAM a scandal means she has to pick between the head or the heart (as in brains, kids, get your head out of the gutter!).

18. If the Shoe Fits by Julie Murphy
If The Shoe Fits is a classic rom-com in novel form.
Along the lines of One To Watch, If The Shoe Fits follows Cindy who unexpectedly ends up on a reality dating show where she can show off her “killer shoe collection” and ends up in the spotlight.
But will she end up with the figurative rose? And, more importantly, does she want it?
Final Thoughts: Plus Size Romance Reads
While I’m always discovering new authors, there is a SEVERE lack of body representation in romance novels.
Let’s be honest, it goes beyond that – RARELY will you see a plus size heroine as part of a romance story on TV or film either.
But if you’re looking to get started on your plus size reading journey, these are some of my favorite reads.
