Horseback riding can be a great adventure date idea, but it’s not the date for everyone.

First of all, horseback riding as an activity isn’t the most plus-size friendly activity. If you’re concerned about your weight, make sure you talk to whatever tour company or ranch you’re using. And unless you’re an expert, you’ll need a guide — which means you won’t be afforded the best privacy.

If you’re inexperienced, you’ll want to make sure you have a professional on-hand to help out. In which case, it might be your best bet to stick indoors and take some beginner lessons as a couple.

Even if you’re experienced but your date is not, you’ll still want to air on the side of caution. Make sure that you only go out on your own IF both you and your date are experienced rock climbers. It’s ultimately not worth the risk!

7. Hiking

Hiking is one of my favorite low-key and inexpensive date ideas if you want something outdoorsy, but don’t want to go all-out. Not to mention, if you head out to the right place at the right time, it can be hella romantic.

Hikes vary in their effort level. When planning your hiking date, make sure you know your date’s fitness level AND that you’ve checked in with them to see if it’s an OK solution. If you’re earlier in your relationship and your date’s less hike-experienced, aim for something pretty over adventurous.

8. Skydiving

Skydiving is a wild date idea that’s not for the faint of heart. While I’m a firm believer that you should discuss any adventure date ideas beforehand, this is one where that particularly applies.

This is also going to be on the pricier side of the date spending spectrum. While it’s not the same as taking a trip on an African Safari — as far as dates go, it’s pretty expensive. You’ll need to hire a professional company that can provide the equipment and take you up in a plane.

Make sure that you and your date have discussed your fitness levels before hand. If your date’s not ready to do it, don’t try to force them.

This could be a TON of fun, though technically it is illegal. So, just make sure to be careful. You’ll also want to make sure you’re not out in the ocean in the middle of the night or anything like that — it could be pretty dangerous. And, make sure you don’t get caught!
