10 Tips for the Perfect Plus Size Outfits for Las Vegas
My first Las Vegas trip happened in early June, and man was it HOT.
I know heading there in the cooler season is more costly.
But, if you can score a winter or fall ticket you’ll be way better off… says the girl that literally lives in Mexico.
Vegas is hot and there’s a lot of walking to do.
This means if you’re looking for plus size Vegas outfit ideas for your next trip, you’re going to want to pack accordingly.
Think cool outfits, lots of sunscreen and your favorite pair of sunglasses.
And prepare to spend a lot of time indoors if you’re heading there in the dead of summer.
This adult playground is a great destination for those of us that love the glitz and glam of history (guilty).
But it’s also for those who enjoy partying poolside and sipping expensive fancy fishbowl drinks (definitely not me).
With that in mind, before you start packing you’ll want to set your expectations and your limits.
Vegas can truly be as wild as the movies tell you it is, if you want it to be.
So, what are we going to pack for this wild adventure?

Tips for deciding what to pack for Las Vegas
1. Don’t be afraid to show off in the pool
As someone who practically lives in a bikini, I can’t recommend packing a sexy swimsuit (or 3) enough.
It’s important to point out that “sexy” doesn’t mean for others, but what makes you feel on the top of your game.
This might be a bikini (seriously, if it’s been a while try one out) or it might be a single-piece suit.
At the end of the day, you want to make sure that you pack the items you want to wear.
Otherwise, you’ll end up with a suitcase full of crap.
Now, I don’t want to get too gross on you, but when it comes to picking the right swimsuit for Vegas I’d avoid white.
Yes, white is stylish.
But (yes, fully-grown adults) who hang out in the pools in Sin City don’t always use the bathrooms when they should…
I’ll let you read between the lines on that one.
But for your Las Vegas pool outfit go for something cute, packable, and easy to clean.

I’d also recommend bringing a different swimsuit for everyday you plan to swim.
You can absolutely wash clothes while you travel.
But Vegas tends to be a short-term destination and swimsuits don’t take up a ton of space.

2. Cover up with something comfy and cute
Pool time isn’t just about what you wear in the water, it’s also about what you throw on when you’re getting out.
I’m talking cute, comfy cover-ups that keep you feelin’ great poolside.
You’ll want to have 1 or 2 in your bag.
They can be cool and casual like a t-shirt cover-up, or gorgeous and glam like a lacey number.
You can wear these too and from the pool, while you’re lounging about, or even while you’re headed to the bar.
Swimsuit cover-ups come in pretty much any shape and style.
If you want to go right from the pool to somewhere else, the perfect plus size dress for Vegas is something sunny and bright.
But for something simple to throw over your shoulders when you get out of the pool, a kimono will do just fine.
3. Opt for bright colors when walking the strip
The Las Vegas strip is the perfect place for lightweight fabrics and bold colors, like a floral orange top, especially if you’re headed there in the summer.
While Vegas tends to be warmer year-round, it’s not uncommon for it to be over 100 degrees in June, July, and August.
Keeping that in mind, you’ll want to pack items that won’t make you sweat just thinking about them.
I’m talking about fabrics like light cotton, linen, or even rayon — bonus points if it’s moisture-wicking!
Those lightweight fabrics will be best matched with bright colors.
Not because bright robin egg blue dress will be cold, but because something in black is hot.
You want to avoid those darker colors that soak up the sun’s rays.
Flowy, lightweight, and fun is the perfect stylesheet for the Vegas Strip.
Wear what you love, you can walk in, and won’t make you overheat!
4. Rompers are a girl’s best friend
I’m a MASSIVE romper fan.
I love a good jumpsuit but living in a warm climate means I’ve spent a little more time focused on my romper collection recently.
Rompers are the perfect hot-weather clothing item because they tend to:
- Be made of lightweight fabric
- Help you avoid chub rub because of the individual legs
- Be cooler because of the shorter pants
- Not ride up and reveal any unfortunate crack due to the single piece
- Be insanely comfortable
In summary: rompers are the perfect Las Vegas outfit.
Especially if you’re planning on packing carry-on only (which can be a REAL feat).

With an all-in-one outfit, you can feel cute and put together with a single piece of clothing.

I’d recommend bringing at least one along.
But I usually slip a second that’s a tad bit dressier into my bag as well.
That way I have something classy enough to wear to a show but still cool enough to walk the Strip in.
5. Sparkles win at the casino
Looking for plus size casino outfits to pack?
I’d recommend going all-out with something sparkly and fun.
Vegas is all about the excess, and sparkles and sequin fit right into that scene.
Packing something sparkly and fun doesn’t have to mean going over the top.
Simple and cute like this dress by Cider is perfect.
You totally can go all-out, but even adding a little glitz to your Las Vegas outfit can help give you that Las Vegas playground feeling.
Little black dress or fun, flirty plus size Vegas tops and a pair of denim shorts, or even a full-on sequin dress goes a long way.
If you’re feeling hella fancy, you could even go full-on royalcore.
And if you don’t want to pack anything extra, try accessorizing with some glitzy jewelry instead!

6. Clubs are a place for glam babes (like you!)
We talked about sequins and sparkles already, which also work for plus size club wear, but now let’s talk full-on glitz and glam.
There’s a weird idea out there that having a plus size body means wearing dull clothes.
But honestly, in Vegas (and everywhere else) you deserve to feel good.
Pile on that glitter, slip on a shimmery body-con dress, and slide on some daring shoes.
Confidence is the sexiest thing you wear, so dress to impress yourself and show off your stuff in the club.
Vegas is the perfect place to experiment with your style and step outside your comfort zone.
So go ahead and wear that tight-as-hell dress you’ve been eyeing but were too scared to try.
You never know, you might just end up loving it.
I happen to love this white romper-skirt set, or a full-on sparkly jumpsuit.
Keep in mind that while Vegas is a place to let loose and have fun, you still want to be comfortable.
If you’re not comfortable in something, you won’t have a good time.
So while it’s important to experiment with your style, make sure you stay true to yourself.
7. Go chunky if you need a heel
While stilettos are sexy, they’re probably not the right fit if you’re planning on walking place-to-place.
That’s where a chunk-yet-supportive heel like ASOS’ truffle shoe comes in.
Because you’re probably planning to spend time walking around Vegas, if you’re interested in sporting heels you’ll want to plan accordingly.
Chunky heels will probably be more comfortable for longer wear.
Plus, you won’t have to worry about breaking it off while you’re walking down the strip.
Not only are they more comfortable for walking, but chunky heels can also add a touch of edge to your Las Vegas outfit.
If you’re looking to dress down a sparkly top or fun romper, a pair of chunky black heels can help tone it down.

8. But focus on comfy sandals
Heels are for some plus size women, but not for this one.
I’ve only ever owned three pairs of heels in my life, and one of them had two left feet (they were hella cute, so I wore them in a costume anyway).
It’s safe to say, heels are not my Vegas shoe of choice.
Something cute like these affordable braided sandals are a fun pick.
If you’re like me, and you don’t consider yourself a heel gal, I recommend focusing on packing a comfy pair of sandals instead.
While it depends on your style, I like Skechers because they come in wide width and are hella comfy.
But if you want something a tad bit dressier, check out the Hilda Braided sandals.
It mixes a bit of a heel with some sparkle and gives you a comfy wide-width wear.
The best part is while you can dress them down with a casual romper, you can also wear them for a night out!
9. Keep cool if you have a business meeting
Las Vegas might be all about the fun, but some of us have to travel there for work (boo, I know!).
If that’s the case, our wardrobe will have to air on the side of posh professional instead of peachy party girl.
Luckily, there are plenty of ways to look cute and still keep it business appropriate.
Not sure what to go with? I recommend:
- Cute pencil dress that hits right around the knee
- Classy blazer combo with a fun (cooling) top underneath
- Short-and-blazer suit combination for summer months
Whatever you go with, you’ll want to make sure you take into consideration the fabric.
You need something lightweight and breathable, so you don’t sweat the whole way through your meeting (no one wants that).
I also recommend bringing along a pair of comfortable flats, even if you have something else in mind.
If you’re on a work trip and have no idea how long your meeting will take, you want some backup footwear.

10. Accessorize like a pro
The right accessories can make or break your Vegas outfit.
They can both tie everything together and add a touch of personality to the mix.
But it’s not hard to accidentally overdo it, so you want to tread lightly.
Choose one or two key pieces to focus on and let them really shine.
You don’t need a million bangles or a scarf, hat, and sunglasses all at once. Just pick one or two things and roll with it.
Jewelry can be a great way to accessorize.

If you have a sparkly top that you’ve packed for the casino, add a pair of daintier earrings or an iconic necklace.
Or, if you want to go even simpler, aim for a statement ring or bracelet.
Alternatively, you can accessorize with a fun purse or backpack.
This is a particularly good choice if you’re trying to pack light and need to store your essentials.
Again, don’t overdo it, pick one bag that works for everything and stick with it!
All of that said, you want to make sure that you don’t head to Vegas without sunglasses or a sun hat.
Especially if you’re going to be sitting poolside for some (or all) of your vacation.
How to pack your Vegas Vegas outfits
Putting together a few plus size Las Vegas outfit ideas is one thing, but packing it up is the real challenge.
Vegas tends to be a short trip for most of us. Chances are you won’t need nearly as much as you think you do.
There are two big things you can do that will make packing for Vegas significantly easier, if you can manage them:

Keep it carry-on only
If you want to save time and money, going carry-on only is your best bet.
I know this is a stretch for a lot of us. But Vegas is the perfect trip to test this out on, considering most of us head there for less than a week.
Many of us over pack, stuffing our bags full of things we think we need.
Only we end up using a quarter of what’s there.
And, right now, with travel as unpredictable as it is, bags are getting lost and arriving late left-right-and-center.
If you’re only going to be somewhere for a short time, why risk it?
If you can pack all of your favorite things into a carry-on that you can pack into the overhead bin, that’s the ideal scenario.
Remember that you also get to pack a personal item (my favorite is Monos’ Metro Backpack).
So, if you can fit everything into these 2 bags, you’re golden!

Packing cubes for the win!
So the single bag sounds like a great plan, but how do you get all your important things into limited space?
Packing cubes!
Getting a set of packing cubes can help you keep things organized and tidy while you’re on the move.
When I pack carry-on only, I tend to go for a smaller cube for my undergarments and swim clothes.
Then use a larger one for the rest of my outfits.
I get even more in my packing cubes — and avoid wrinkles — by rolling clothes instead of folding them.
I find that rolled clothes take up less space and are less likely to get creases.
This allows me to pack smart without leaving anything important behind.

Go easy on the toiletries
My last piece of advice is to evaluate your toiletries and beauty products with purpose before throwing them in your bag.
These are much like clothes where you can easily end up with more than you need. Plus they take up a wild amount of space.
I recommend decanting your full-size products into smaller bottles where possible to help cut down on weight and amount.
If you’re going the carry-on only route, you’ll need to have them in smaller bottles anyway.
I know that a tiny jar of foundation doesn’t seem like enough for a week in Vegas, but I bet it is.
I spent some time measuring before my trip to Mexico.
It turns out I use WAY less in a 30-day period than I thought I did.
Tips for feeling your best in Las Vegas
Vegas can be a hard trip for us plus size ladies if we’re not comfortable in our own skin.
It’s right up there with Los Angeles for the amount of commercially “beautiful people” you’ll run into.
But, at the end of the day, it really boils down to confidence.
You really want to walk around Vegas like you own it.
Not only that but you’re doing everyone else, and the city as a whole, a favor by showing up and gracing it with your presence.
I know it sounds silly, but confidence is really the most flattering look you can wear.
Speaking of wearing things — Vegas is hot.
Way too hot to cover anything up.
So flaunt it all and flaunt it proudly.
The bottom line is, don’t worry about your weight because honestly, no one else is giving you that much headspace… they’re all off worrying about how their butt looks in their own bikini.
