Review: Hey Honey CC Cream

I got my hands on some of the Hey Honey CC Cream in the Ipsy Glam Bag but hadn’t really taken the time to really use it until recently, and I have to say I absolutely love it.

This is my first time using a CC cream and, quite frankly, I’m not sure I would have picked it up. But I have to say that I love the idea of combining a few products into one and cut down on the makeup that I have to carry with me.

If you’re thinking of using it, or you want to see what CC cream does in general, this is the post for you!

What is Hey Honey CC Cream?

Hey Honey Trick and Treat CC Cream is a colour correcting cream that also moisturizes your skin while it’s working. Hey Honey uses what they call “triple pigment technology” to help hide your skin’s imperfections.

It combines a hint of cover up with moisturizer to make sure no heavy makeup dries out your skin, and also features anti-aging features. Why not start early?

I use the light to medium colour because of my skintone, but they also have light, tan, deep tan and deep so you can find a colour that works for you. Plus it’s designed to work for any type of skin.

This bad boy can replace a concealer on better days and has the properties of an active moisturizer, so you can carry less and still be able to do your whole makeup look.

How to use it and does it work?

To use Hey Honey CC Cream you want to apply it over your entire face after your moisturizer has been applied (or in replacement if you don’t need to double up) and spread around with your fingertips or a sponge. I put it on over my moisturizer (Celestial by Lush) and used a makeup sponge to spread it out.

I really loved that it provided a light coverage to even out my skin tone but I can share that it didn’t work on a darker spot on my nose. Everywhere else was fine, but it was just a little light to cover that one particular spot.

I also loved the moisturizing factor. While I used my regular moisturizer underneath, I let it dry and put the Hey Honey CC Cream on top. My skin felt great and I didn’t feel like I was wearing layers upon layers. It worked well underneath my Mac Studio Fix Stick Foundation.

All-in-all, the Hey Honey CC Cream is a great product that I’m seriously considering throwing into my regular mix when the tester I have is done. The only thing that would make it better is if it had an added sunscreen added—and you actually can get CC creams with sunscreen.

Alternative CC Creams

If Hey Honey CC Cream isn’t exactly what you’re looking for, there are some other great ones you can try out:

Honest Beauty CC Cream

Honest Beauty Clean Corrective with Vitamin C is a CC cream that performs six different tasks. Not only does it moisturize (for up to 12 hours), but it primes, perfects, protects, blurs and brightens your skin. Plus it has sunscreen.

This is a great replacement for a sunscreen and colour corrector. It blends beautifully to fill in your skin’s lines and perfections to help clear in a more even skin tone. And it’s made without chemical sunscreens, parabens, phthalates and synthetic fragrances.

The downside to the Honest Beauty CC cream is that they have only four tone choices instead of the five. Yes, it goes under your makeup so it’s not as important to match, but it is nice to have a wider variety.

Purlisse Youth Glow CC Cream

The Purlisse Youth Glow CC Cream is another cream that features SPF 30, which is great for those of us that like to spend a ton of time in the sun. It has vitamin c and is infused with hyaluronic acid, both of which helps keep your skin looking youthful and moisturized.

This cream helps even your skin tone but it’s oil free so it shouldn’t make your skin go crazy. It says its suitable for all skin types, which is great for those of us with combination skin.

However, this is another one of those creams where I could only find three different colour choices—the darkest colour they had was medium which doesn’t make it a great choice for everyone. Which, honestly, is a real bummer.

Your Skin But Better CC Cream

If you’re looking for shade choices, Your Skin But Better CC Cream is where you’ll find them. This bad boy features 10 different shades from fare to deep, which means more of us beautiful babes can find our tone.

In addition to the regular CC cream features like moisturizing and correcting colour, this cream has SPF 40 to protect you from those annoying sun rays that seem to be out to burn your skin!

This CC cream features anti-aging and hydrating serums, plus it provides poreless, fresh full-coverage. This is a great cream for those that want to even out some slightly heavier spots.
